What is dye sublimation?

Dye Sublimation or Dye Sub printing is done by printing with special dyes onto a special transfer paper .The paper is then placed onto the fabric or object and heat is applied using a heat press. When the critical temperature is reached, the dye turns from a solid to a gas and transfers across to the fabric or polymer film, becoming a permanent part of the polymer.

Dye-sublimation printing yields beautiful and permanent colours that are embedded in the substrate or fabric, rather than printed on the surface these images won’t fade or crack even after multiple washes.

This process can only be used on white or light coloured fabrics of at least 65% polyester, with 100% polyester giving the best results. Hard items including ceramics and metals require a special polymer coating to adhear the sublimation dyes.

We do request that any pictures/photos be supplied at 300 dpi and that logos be supplies in vector format to meet high quality resolution for dye sublimation printing. If you have a low quality format such as a .JPG, .BMP or .GIF file, we may need to re-create the logo in a higher resolution format which would incur additional fees.

We try to match logo colours the best we can but cannot guarantee a 100% colour match due to the sublimation process.
